Rafael de la Fuente is a main actor of The CW's Dynasty, portraying the role of Sam Jones.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
De la Fuente Torres was born on November 11, 1986, in Caracas, Venezuela, to Rafael Sr., a bariatric surgeon, and Helena; he has a younger sister, Alma.
With the initial goal to pursue a singing career, De La Fuente moved to the United States to attend the University of Tampa where, in 2009, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He shifted his focus to pursuing a career in acting.
Career[]
De La Fuente made his acting debut in an episode of the Telemundo-produced telenovela, Más Sabe el Diablo, in 2009. The following year, he landed another episodic role in a Telemundo production, the telenovela, Aurora. In 2011, De La Fuente landed a recurring role in Grachi, a Spanish language American fantasy series produced by Nickelodeon. He portrayed Diego Forlán and was promoted to series regular for the second and third seasons. This led to a recurring role in another Nickelodeon series, an English-language remake of Grachi titled Every Witch Way, in 2014.
In 2014, De La Fuente made his feature film debut as Rafael Amato in The One I Wrote for You. He then portrayed Erik in 2015 film, Lift Me Up, and landed a recurring role in Fox's Empire, created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, opposite Jussie Smollett. He portrayed Smollett's onscreen love interest, Michael Sanchez, in the first two seasons. In 2017, he appeared in two episodes of the ABC miniseries, When We Rise, and in the premiere episode of American Horror Story: Cult.
De La Fuente landed a series regular role in The CW's Dynasty, a reboot of the 1980s primetime soap opera of the same name, in March 2017. His role, Sam Jones, is a gay male version of the character, Sammy Jo Carrington, famously played by Heather Locklear. De La Fuente remained on the series through its final episode in 2022 and is one of four cast members to appear in all 108 episodes.
In 2018, De La Fuente featured in the films ¡He matado a mi marido! and Antidote. In 2023, he starred as Enrique in the Hallmark Christmas film, Letters to Santa.
