Hey there! My name is Chen, I'm with the Community team at FANDOM.
Over the last year, we’ve been working on a brand new TV Community Builder. We’ve identified your wiki as one of the best candidates to move to the new platform because it already has a great structure for characters, cast, seasons and episodes. We designed the TV Community Builder from the start with TV shows in mind to mirror that same structure.
While the new Builder is still early in its life, we would be thrilled to have you as a key test community to help us learn what works, what doesn’t, and what feedback we need to know moving forward! Would you be interested in giving some feedback and participating in helping figure out what features we should create for the TV Community Builder?
Here are some of the reasons we’re excited about the new experience:
Mobile capabilities: This new builder is designed to work across all devices - making it easy to create and view pages on desktops and phones with no extra work required from editors. Over the years, more and more people are switching to browsing the internet on their phones and FANDOM is no different. We are invested in making it a better experience and allow fans to edit as easily from their phones as their desktops.
Structured data: Structured data is a way of organizing all of the data on a website so you can present information in more powerful ways. Not only can you display content in ways that helps people find what pages they should read next, but it can even make editing easier - imagine if you could update a single character page, and that data would be added to all other relevant pages automatically. By removing the reliance on wikitext, editing becomes a simpler experience and content becomes easier to find.
You can see this new platform in action on Making It wiki right now - please check it out!
If your wiki uses the new Community Builder, what we would do is migrate all of the articles here over to a new domain and temporarily maintain both while we go through and clean up some of the information. It won’t all be perfect so there will be some work to do to get everything set on the TV Community Builder before we switch over the domain. We are happy to help with a lot of the heavy lifting there.
We’d love to do this in the next week to make sure this wiki is ready for Season 2.
Thanks for the quick response! I'm happy you would love to help! I just want to be clear that after the migration, this wiki will start using the new format (TV Builder) moving forward. We are still in a early stage of this layout, but we will keep evolving it with the feedback we collect from our admins and users. Your suggestions and feedback will help us direct the way where we want to head to for the improvement of TV builder. So for sure!
Would you like us to start the migration next week? Thank you.
Do we have any admin powers? If so, then yes, next week works great. Also, one of my fellow admins was wondering if one thing u guys can consider is the wiki background. But all in all, we are excited to help test out!
That's awesome! We will start the migration soon if everything looks good to you and other admins! There may be some pages need extra attention during the migration process, and I will keep you updated. Basically we are going to use a new URL for migration while keeping the old one, and you can compare both communities to make sure all content are well-transferred. Once that is done, we will change the URL as the final step.
Back to your question 1 - yes, you will continue having the admin power. For now, you can only manage the community and reorder the pages. There is no permissions yet but we plan to work on that very soon. We are thinking to let admins have the ability to delete pages, manage community (including page types) and block users for the next step.
About your question 2 - we are using a standard design for the current layout. We will likely start from basic theming (dark/light background switch) some time soon. We would also like to know what kind of customization you are hoping to do specifically. Background image? Word-mark? Or others? That would help us to plan what specific theming customizations to be added to this product to meet our users' needs.
This is still an early stage for this new tool and many parts may not be perfect. But we are hoping to let our users easily edit and contribution content via a simple, non-mediawiki tool with a modern design. To achieve our goal, we would like to continue talking to you and gathering feedback/suggestions after the migration. We really appreciate you can be part of this experience and help us make the product better and better! :)
Yeah, just in case, having the power to block or delete pages would come in handy ASAP. As for customization, yes to all the above (i.e. background image, word-mark, etc.). But yes sounds perfect! I look forward to it.
I twisted some words and linked the message wall to Community Central. Another suggestion is you can use Discussions for conversations too. We will develop more tools by the end of this year, like admin rights, etc.
Just checked with our team and the migration will be done tomorrow! Please notice that some pages may not be 100% perfect and may need some manual migration work. Our team has been doing as best as we can. But please feel free to jump in and adjust the pages if necessary. If you have any questions about any page or you don't know how to adjust them, please let me know! Thank you!
Hello Selena... I don't understand the reversed edits on this page... This is an episode page and I deleted the counting appearance after the cast member/character name to respect the layout of the other episode pages... The counting is on the season pages, not on the episode pages.
Basically, the reason to include the numbers right now is because no new episode has premiered. So it's just easier to show how many episodes there are in the cast section. In case people are just quickly reading through the page. Does that make sense?
Me too! But I think for now we will stick to the previous episode title since it came from the executive producer herself. If u can find any tweets from her or anybody else on the cast and crew I would really appreciate it.
One of the crew members that work on the soundtrack of Dynasty tweeted a picture of the tracks in the first episode, where the title was changed (I assume they updated the title because this picture was posted after Sallie's post of the original script). Also, on the website above, they reference the episode as "Twenty-Three Skidoo".
I wish they would have teased us out with information, promotional pics, the poster and then the trailer. Instead of all at once (sans the trailer). This way, anticipation for the new season would hije up.
That's very true. The CW needs to step up on promoting Dynasty properly. The show is a month away, and all we have is a few promotional pictures and quite frankly, a fan-made looking poster for the new season. Compared to Riverdale (that airs 2 days before Dynasty) and has already released their promo for the new season a few weeks ago.
My best guess is that Liam would get promoted, as we're gradually starting to see more of him in season 2, and it looks like he's here to stay. I hope Monica does get promoted to a series regular-she's very underrated tbh. I was hoping to see less of Claudia after the season finale and it's kind of difficult to see how else the writers would include her (and her child) to fit the story line after her murdering Cristal, but anything's possible. What are your thoughts?
True, but Brianna is a well known actress that I could see them include her in. IMO... Having her and Wakima(who I agree is very u serrated but one of my favorite characters) on lock as series regular would avoid any potential Scheduling problems. They'd be free to do other projects but Dynasty would be their main priority. yeah Liam is a good guess. Monica is just someone so hope becomes main but idk if they will. Lol she had more appearances than Alexis! As for the PCA. thanks, I will spread the word
changed the layout of some characters and their appearances, created a page for Cristal Flores that changes the links in ALL SEASON 1 EPISODES for the first Nathalie Kelley's Cristal Flores who is now in red without link !!!!
I blocked them infinitely Is everything fixed, or do u need me to rollback and delete all his edits? Also, the templates thing is not a bad idea. Though they should have waited or ask for permission. It's actually more organized. I think the only wrong things they did was the links thing, making a page for the real Cristal Flores and above all else... Not asking for permission.
I Updated my comment above before u replied, please re read the comment above. Also, in the future, just wait a couple of minutes before u start to edit in cases like these. Like after writing me a message. Maybe wait a half an hour? Cause it would have just been easier for me to have gone on his edits, and with one click, remove all the bad edits
In Cristal case, when we will create another page for the new Cristal Flores, this will change all the link in Cristal Carrington... as the troll did... (I think it's because she was first named Cristal Flores before the page was renamed to Cristal Carrington)...
It won't. I think for example, you can have the page be Cristal Carrington for now, but in sections where it describes her as Celia or as Cristal Flores, we can add this ---> | (insert name to display here). That way the link doesn't change, but what we display does. For an example just look at my edit for the Fallon page right now.
Yes... I understand the insert name to display thing... but when I look at all the episodes while correcting them, the link is still Cristal Flores and not Cristal Carrington... You know what I try to say?... When the troll created the page for the new Cristal Flores with this name, it changed all the links for Nathalie Kelley's character with Ana Brenda's one...
Yes, I recognize their navboxes ! ^^... Before they decided to merge the characters pages, the navboxes were unclear with i.e. Lana Parrilla appearing in the episode but Regina Mills only mentioned but Evil Queen appearing and Roni too.
To avoid speculations like that (when Alexis says to Jeff that he is a Carrington, does this mean that Millie Colby is mentioned), I suggest to not use the mentions word with the exception of Alexis and Cristal Carrington in the future...
I don't think anyone is saying Millie is being mentioned in that scenario. I think if its an idirect mention like how Blake or Steven would tell Fallon she's just like her mother... Alexis isn't being directly mentioned, but it's an indirect mention. If there's an inderect mention then just ask me about it! :)
Hey! I'm not sure if you heard, but the writers are replacing Cristal Flores for season 2 (played by Ana-Brenda Contreras). Ana-Brenda will be playing the "real Cristal", which means Nat played the fake Cristal in season 1.
Apparently, Nat wasn't supposed to reveal that we won't be back for season 2 so early on, and the writers were supposed to reveal the re-casting of Cristal.
Whoa! I've actually watched soap operas from Mexico that featured Ana Brenda. I think for now, we will just have the information in season 2 say Ana- Brenda Contreras as the real Cristal Flores... But I will discuss with the other admins wether a page should be made. I'm thinking at this time, we should wait till the first episode airs to make appropriate pages for the current Cristal page. For now, just having it on the main page, as aI have done will be enough. We should make a page for the actress though
I'm just glad they aren't solely focusing on Alexis and will continue to feature Cristal in some shape or form. Also, the way its been said... sounds like Nathalie if she's mad at anyone might be at the producers and not the rest of the cast.
