Let's Start Over Again is the first and premiere episode of the fifth season, and eighty-seventh episode overall of the drama television series, Dynasty on The CW. It aired on December 20, 2021.

Synopsis[]

WINTER WONDERLAND - Fallout from Blake's gala finally begins to settle and Blake and Cristal start to work on the next phase of his campaign. In his hour of need, Liam turns to Sam and Kirby. As Alexis remains in jail and proclaims her innocence, Amanda sets out to see who might be responsible for the murder. Adam continues to be suspicious of Amanda and the feeling is reciprocated. Meanwhile, Jeff starts to heal. Dominique doesn't belieave anything Jeff said when he was sick but Cullhane believes their may be some truth in Jeff's suspicions. ^[1]

Reports of Fallon's death are exaggerated. She is very much alive (surviving a through-and-through gunshot wound) and anxious to ditch the hospital to reverse her company's free-fall with Sam and Kirby's help. Jeff recovers in another ward but is cognizant enough to expose Brady's treachery to Dominique. Alexis is allowed caviar and pumps in prison but denied bail. Amanda starts to gather evidence that Adam (not her mother) murdered Dr. Larson. Blake manipulates the press (again). Beto sees possibilities in a trashy doppelgänger of Cristal. Fallon gets Liam to admit how angry he still is with her before she lapses into a coma from an undetected infection.^[2]

This episode's title, along with its synopsis, directors, and writer were revealed on December 2, 2021, via a press release.
Daniella Alonso is credited twice in this episode.
- First, as usual, as the lead cast member in the opening sequence. And, a second time, as a guest star in the closing credits for her role as Rita.
From this episode forward, Alan Dale has left the regular cast.
This is the first episode where Eliza Bennett is credited in the main cast rather than as a guest star,
This episode shares the airdate with That Holiday Spirit, December 20, 2021. This is the second time this has happened in the show's history as the first time occured a few months ago.
- The CW is advertising this Monday night as "Full Event Holiday For Dynasty".
The appearance of Cristal Carrington's doppelgänger is a direct reference to the same storyline of the original dynasty series. Much like Daniella, Linda Evans played both the roles of Krystle and Rita.
The scene where Adam visit Alexis in prison while she is having champagne and caviar is a reference to a scene in the fifth episode of the fifth season The Trial, of the original Dynasty series.
Two new characters appears in this episode: Ellen and Danny. Their names might be references to characters of the original show as Ellen was Blake's mother, while Danny was the name of Steven and Sammy Jo's son.

Fallon (to Liam): People actually think I'm dead? The real tragedy here is that photo they're using. I was in Belize, my hair was all frizzed out from the humidity, and some chick in a thong tried to steal my beach chair.

Amanda: I can't believe that you didn't have the decency to visit our mother in jail last night.
Adam: I was tending to my favorite sister at the hospital. And if you know anything about mine and Fallon's relationship, you would know how low that rates you.

Fallon: I'm here because of the IPZ article.
Eva: I'm sorry. I did have to guess some things. Like, I didn't know if you and Colin had sex on your desk or on the couch, so I said both.
Fallon: Do you really think anyone is gonna believe that crap?
Eva: Think they already do. You humiliated me in the press, so I wanted to return the favor, let the world know just what a two-faced whore you really are.

Brady: Jeff, come on, man. That's crazy. I think you're still just a little bit confused.
Jeff: Actually, things are clearer than they've been in a long time. You can keep the computer. I got the confirmation I needed, and backed it up to the cloud just in case.
Brady: (laughs) Maybe I did come here looking for a payday. And when Alexis offered me the right amount, I took it. But I'm not worried, Jeff, because no one's gonna believe someone who's got so many screws loose.
Dominique: I didn't want to believe him. But now I do.

Brady: I admit I came here with ulterior motives. Those guys I told you I owned money to? They're actually alive and well. But once I got here, I started to have feelings for you again, Dom.
Dominique: Oh, you're good. I'll give you that.
Brady: It's the truth. But then they followed me here, threatening me if I didn't make good on my debt. So when Alexis offered me enough to pay them off, I went along with it. I was never gonna keep your money. Just the money from Alexis, I promise.
Dominique: Your promises mean nothing to me anymore. First you tell me the bad guys were in prison. Then you tell me they were dead. And now, they're alive and well in Atlanta? Everything you say is a lie, and it always has been. It's over, Brady. Now get the hell out of my sight.

Beto: First, you stole my job at Flores Incorporado. Now you're cutting me off completely?
Cristal: Yes, I thought it was best to sever all ties between you and the company. A clean break.
Beto: I'm still a Flores. I have a right to be included.

Fallon: So you are angry?
Liam: Yes, I'm angry! I'm angry that I wasn't allowed to be angry! Fallon, you cheated on me.
Fallon: I may have cheated, but at least I owned up to what I did, and I'm trying to work through it. You're the one who can't face your part in this.
Liam: Oh, my part?
Fallon: Yeah.
Liam: I told you, Eva was just a friend, nothing more.
Fallon: That is not what I'm talking about. When all is said and done, you trusted a manipulative psychopath over your own wife!
Liam: Don't you dare make me the bad guy here. You did this to us. And I'm not sure I can ever forgive you for it.

Cristal: The hashtag "Carrington Strong" is trending on social media. Looks like your interview worked.
Blake: Well, of course it worked. Can't believe you ever doubted me.
Cristal: I guess that story about your grandmother helped.
Blake: It did. Dear old Grandma Carrington. You know, she was a raging alcoholic that drove her car into the lake. Wretched woman. But you know, I just don't think that the truth would have had the same impact.
Cristal: People really do love a good sympathy story.

Rita: This seat taken?
Beto: Uh, no. Pl... Please. I, uh, always enjoy the company of a pretty woman.
Rita: Oh, aren't you sweet? It's been a week. Lost my job, my roommate ghosted me on the rent.
Beto: Ah. Sounds like you could use a friend. And a drink. First one on me?
Rita: Thank you. I'm starting to think I showed up at the right time.
Beto: Oh, you showed up at the perfect time. You know, you remind me of someone I used to know.

Dominique (to Jeff): You are looking at the new Dominique Deveraux, stronger than ever and ready to take on the world.

Liam: Dr. Stover? How's she doing?
Dr. Stover: Although the exit wound from the shooting was clean, it seems the bullet nicked a tiny part of her intestine, and that went undetected. It's caused a severe infection in her bloodstream. I'm sorry. I'm afraid Fallon has fallen into a coma.
