Iris Machado is a recurring character in The CW's Dynasty. She is portrayed by Elena Tovar.

Iris is the mother of Sam Jones and the sister of Celia Machado.

Biography

Season 1

Iris lives in Caracas, Venezuela. Her husband Alejandro had been abusing her. Which had left her hurt and crying over Alejandro's cruelty and abuse. In Rotten Things, Blake invited Iris to figure out about Cristal's past. But as it turns out, Iris's true colors show from being a kind and gentle soul to a Selfish and ruthless villain. After finally found out the truth, Cristal attacks her sister causing the Christmas tree to knocked over. Iris coldly pressures Cristal to tell about her past.

In A Well-Dressed Tarantula, Iris reunites her husband and she must've fake about getting abuse by him and pretended to be the victim. At the end of the episode, after Cristal says they are no longer sisters since Iris did the bad things while they were in Venezuela, she kidnaps one of Blake's children: Fallon.

She staged a fake threat and blackmailed Cristal to extort $300,000 from her, and pretended she wasn't involved. Cristal later found out when she found the money in Iris's bag, which Anders had marked when giving to the blackmailers.

She later has a chance of heart killing Alejandro in self-defense when he attacks Cristal. However because of her other past crimes Cristal tells her to run promising she'll take care of this.

She is mentioned a few times after she went back to Velenzuela. Blake reffered her to Celia as "your crazy sister" when she kidnapped Fallon. She was also mentioned by Fallon a few times about her kidnapping.

Iris infact did not attend her sons wedding to Steven Carrington and it is unknown if she went back to Venezuela or another country after she killed Alejandro.

Season 5

After killing Alejandro, Iris changed her ways in life. She volounteered in Church and wanted to be in the hands of God. Fallon learning from Sam that his real dad Daniel has cancer and is dying, comes to visit Iris in a church with Liam. Fallon wanted Iris to come back to Atlanta and visit her son Sammy Jo and the father of her son Daniel. Iris however doesn't want to deny God and tells Fallon that Church is the right place for her, Fallon brings up Iris kidnapping her in Season 1 and says that it's only fair for her to go.

Liam comes to the church disguised as a priest and tells Iris how family is important. Iris tells him how she doesn't want to see her family cause she's ashamed for leaving them for so long. Liam though encourages her to make the right thing and Iris flies back to Atlanta to visit Sam.

Devastated about letting Sam be raised by an abusive father Alejandro she agrees to go back to Atlanta.

Fallon brings her to the hospital and she sees her son Sam. Iris tells him and Daniel that she couldn't face them cause she left them for so long but Fallon and God told her that family is everything. Daniel spends his last moments before death with Sam and Iris. After Daniel's death Iris went to stay at La Mirage for the night.

Trivia

• In the original series, Iris was a deceased character, only mentioned by her sister Krystle and her daughter, Sammy Jo.
  • In the reboot, she is a villain, ultimately aligning once again with Alejandro to take down Celia. However in the end, she kills her husband to save her sister.
• Iris is one of the few Characters to refer Celia by her birth name, along with Cristal Carrington.
• Iris and Sam are the last living characters in the Machado family with Alejandro, Celia and Daniel dying.
• It is unknown if Iris ever found out about Celia's death, it's safe to say she possibly had though.
