I fell in love with you that day, Alexis. And I knew you were exactly the woman I wanted to be with. And now here we are. So, as far as I'm concerned, the more chaos, the better.
Dex Dexter[src]

Farnsworth "Dex" Dexter is a supporting character in The CW's Dynasty. He is portrayed by Pej Vahdat.

A charming and suave hedge-fund manager, Dex has a chance encounter with Alexis Carrington that changes both of their lives forever. To Alexis' surprise and relief, Dex embraces the drama and chaos that comes with being married to her—a refreshing change from his own, boring family upbringing.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Farnsworth was born to Samir Dexter, a wealthy businessman who sat on the board of Carrington Atlantic. In college, Farnsworth took on the nickname, "Dex," which he's been referred to as ever since. ("How Did The Board Meeting Go?") Due to his father's involvement in Carrington Atlantic, Dex was acquainted with CEO Blake Carrington. ("Go Catch Your Horse")

Dex attended the annual Carrington Atlantic holiday parties, all of which he considered boring, until one particular year when Alexis Carrington showed up in a sexy-Santa outfit and led a conga line throughout the entire office. That day, Dex fell in love with Alexis and knew that she was the woman he wanted to be with. ("Vicious Vendetta") Dex later left his family's business and found success as a hedge fund manager. ("A Real Actress Could Do It", "There's No Need to Panic") Additionally, Dex took up residence in The Solitaire, an exclusive complex that houses many of Atlanta's elite. ("How Did The Board Meeting Go?")

Season 5[]

Dex meets an old crush. ("How Did The Board Meeting Go?")

Amanda Carrington tracks down the source of a drone circulating The Solitaire, and she knocks on Dex's door demanding answers and assistance. The drone belongs to Dex's nephew, Timmy, but upon learning that the footage may be able to exonerate a building resident of murder, Dex assists Amanda in accessing the footage. Dex later discovers that the freshly exonerated murder suspect is none other than Alexis, who wishes to have a cocktail and catch up. ("How Did The Board Meeting Go?")

Dex invites Alexis to Dubai. ("Go Catch Your Horse")

Dex and Alexis quickly enter a passionate affair, but Alexis worries that Dex is only interested in an idealized version he created of her when he was in college. Dex accompanies Alexis on a day of errands as he gets a full view of her day-to-day life, including a reunion with Blake, witnessing Alexis verbally spar with Cristal, and meeting her son, Adam, who framed her for murder. Dex questions Alexis' intentions, so she confesses her insecurities. Dex assures he's invested in their blossoming romance, and he invites Alexis on a trip to Dubai to stay with him in his family's castle. ("Go Catch Your Horse")

"I think you're the perfect amount of bitch." ("A Real Actress Could Do It")

Upon their return from Dubai, Dex acts as a voice of reason to Alexis when it comes to her management style at Alexam. As Alexis comes to accept that she cannot change who she is, she worries that this might negatively impact her relationship with Dex as she thinks his push for her to improve in management was a backdoor approach to changing her personality. Dex assures otherwise, that he simply wishes for her to have everything she desires, but that he doesn't want anything about her to change. ("A Real Actress Could Do It")

Dex uses the G-word. ("The Only Thing That Counts Is Winning")

Dex's relationship with Alexis progresses when he refers to her as his "girlfriend", but he grows frustrated as Alexis' conflict with Adam gets in the way of their spent together. He refers the two to a therapist where progress is made, and to prove his loyalty to Alexis, Dex is able to solve a packaging problem for Alexam before the company's launch. ("The Only Thing That Counts Is Winning")

Dex proposes to Alexis. ("There's No Need to Panic")

Alexis has Dex and Fallon meet for breakfast, but the latter is uninterested in getting to know Dex, believing his relationship with her mother to be short-lived. Alexis senses tension with Dex due to this exchange, but she's unable to discuss it with him further when she and Fallon are forced to lock themselves in her panic room when robbers break into the penthouse. Alexis refuses to give the robbers what they are after: a ring she intended to use to propose to Dex. After Alexis gets out of the panic room, Dex pays a surprise visit before leaving for his business trip. Alexis admits her fear of abandonment and her plan to propose, which Dex finds to be a coincidence before he gets down on one knee. Alexis accepts. ("There's No Need to Panic")
