"But a Drug Scandal?" is the nineteenth episode of the fifth season, and the one hundredth and fifth episode overall of The CW's Dynasty. It aired on August 12, 2022.

Synopsis[]

HIGHS AND LOWS - As Liam struggles with his conscience, he receives a not so inspiring sentiment from his mother. Fallon organizes a fundraiser to help save her horse charity and Liam, Culhane and Sam are all corralled to help, but Jeff is not convinced to join. Adam goes to Blake for help. Dex decides to deal with something on his own, which does not go well with Alexis. Dominique is assigned a bodyguard by FSN and he takes his job very seriously, much to Dom's chagrin.

Plot Summary[]

SPOILERS AHEAD

Fallon squares off against Atlanta snob Mandy Von Dunkel who opposes a racy bachelor auction that will benefit Heroic Hooves, an equestrian charity. Alexis and Dex argue over how to handle the FDA's investigation into Adam's dangerous injectables. Liam submits the novel he did not write to his publisher despite Sam's disapproval. Dominique is threatened by a stalker and assigned a hunky, overzealous bodyguard. Even with Culhane, Sam, and Liam up for bid, Fallon's event nearly fails until Jeff raises the ante and donations roll in, besting Mandy's browbeats. Blake fixes Adam's problem by switching drug samples, but Alexis is done with her son's betrayals and turns him over to DEA agents.^[1]

This is the second episode which Elizabeth Gillies has directed after Season 4 episode, A Good Marriage in Every Sense.
Adam states in this episode that Fallon and Liam are going to have a baby boy.
- This is later confirmed to be false when Stacey reveals at the baby shower in "More Power to Her" that Fallon and Liam will be having a baby girl.
Matt Bennett, who plays Cole, previously costarred with Elizabeth Gillies in the hit Nickelodeon series Victorious.
- Cole mentions being skilled in puppetry. This is a reference to Bennett's Victorious role as Robbie Shapiro, a skilled ventriloquist who was often accompanied by a dummy that serves as his alter-ego, Rex.
The title of this episode comes from a line in the original Dynasty, first said by Adam to Blake in the ninth episode of the eighth season, "The Set-Up".
