Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas better known synonimously as Ashanti, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, model, dancer, and actress. She was first discovered as a teenager and later signed to Murder Inc. in late 2001. She portrayed a version of herself in Season 3 of Dynasty.
Aside from music, Ashanti has also acted in various productions. In 2005, she made her feature film debut in Coach Carter alongside Samuel L. Jackson, as well as starring as Dorothy Gale in the made-for-television film The Muppets' Wizard of Oz, which pulled in nearly 8 million viewers when it premiered. She has since appeared in the films Johny Tucker Must Die in 2006, and Resident Evil: Extinction in 2007.

In Mother? I'm at La Mirage, Sam was putting everything into the opening of his hotel. He practically stalked Ashanti in order to get her to come and he was doing his best to get her to perform as well. It had all been a part of his plan. Sam wanted the night to be perfect for everyone, so he had been really been on the edge and he didn’t need anyone playing games at his opening. As luck would have it, Vanessa Deveraux, the new bartender at La Mirage served Ashanti a drink, which caused her to feel ill. This lead to Ashanti being unable to perform at the opening. Vanessa managed to grab a microphone and she gave her own performance after sabotaging Ashanti at the last minute.
